Found the Scape you want to call home? Now it’s time to lock in your room.
Booking your room at Scape is pretty simple. You can explore properties and rooms online, secure your room with a holding deposit, then work through a few pre-arrival steps before your move-in day.
Here’s what to expect.
You can explore our Scape properties, locations and available room types online. Think about where you’ll be studying, how you want to live and which room type feels right for you.
Not sure where to start? Our Leasing team is here to help. Give us a call or send us an email and we can answer questions about rooms, locations and availability.
Once you’ve found your room, here’s what happens next:
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Find your Scape | Explore our properties, locations and available rooms online. |
| 2. Choose your room | Select your available room and provide your contact details. |
| 3. Add any extras | Choose from available add-ons, such as bedding or kitchen packs. |
| 4. Secure your room | Pay a holding deposit equal to one week’s rent to secure your room. |
| 5. Get confirmation | We’ll send your booking confirmation and details to set up your Scape Resident Portal password. |
| 6. Get move-in ready | Upload your documents, sign your contract, pay your bond and complete your remaining pre-arrival steps. |
Once you’ve found an available room you love, you’ll need to pay a holding deposit equal to one week’s rent to secure it.
And don’t worry, this isn’t an extra week of rent. Once your contract starts, your holding deposit will go towards one week of your rent.
After payment, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your booking details, check-in dates and instructions for setting up your Scape Resident Portal.
Then you can start getting ready for move-in day.
You don’t need to have everything confirmed before securing your room.
If you’re waiting for your Australian student visa, you can book your room while your application is being processed. If your visa isn’t granted, you may be eligible to cancel your booking and have your holding deposit refunded, subject to Scape’s Booking Terms & Conditions and the applicable requirements.
Still waiting to hear from your university or education provider? The same may apply. If you don’t receive an offer, you may be eligible to cancel and receive your holding deposit back, subject to the applicable terms.

Room secured? Nice. Now it’s time to get everything sorted for your arrival.
You’ll be able to work through your pre-arrival steps before check-in:
| What you’ll need | What to do |
|---|---|
| Documents | Provide your passport or ID and Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), where required. |
| Under 18s | Provide your CAAW documentation, if applicable. |
| Residential contract | Review and sign your residential contract. |
| Direct debit | Add your Australian banking details for rent payments. |
| Bond | Pay your required rental bond. |
Don’t have an Australian bank account yet? That’s okay. While direct debit is required to pay your rent at Scape, you don’t need to have it set up before you arrive. If you’re still waiting to open an Australian bank account, our team can help you get this sorted once you arrive.
If possible, we recommend setting up your direct debit before check-in. It’s one less thing to think about when you arrive.
Your holding deposit is equal to one week’s rent. It secures your room and, once your contract starts, goes towards one week of your rent.
A rental bond is a security payment made at the beginning of your tenancy. It’s separate from your regular rent and is held as security during your stay.
At the end of your tenancy, your bond can be returned to you, provided there aren’t any outstanding costs that can legally be claimed against it, such as unpaid rent or damage beyond normal wear and tear.
Bond requirements vary between Australian states, so the exact amount and process will depend on which property you live in.
During the pre-arrival process, you’ll need to provide the required documents for your booking. These may include your passport or ID, Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and, for applicable under-18 residents, CAAW documentation.
No stress. If you’re having trouble uploading your documents, you can email them to our team and we can upload them for you.
You can also bring your documents with you on move-in day, and our team can help assist to upload them during check-in.
Yes. Direct debit is required for your ongoing rent payments.
