We’ve got some exciting news to share! Scape has officially achieved Gold Accreditation in the 2026 Residential Experience Standard (RES), recognising the experience we provide to students living across our Australian properties.
And the best part? This recognition is shaped by feedback from the people who know Scape best: our residents!
With almost 3,800 students sharing their experiences, this is a pretty special milestone for our Scape community.
The Residential Experience Standard (RES) is an accreditation program that looks at what it’s really like to live in student accommodation.
It’s not just about having a nice room. It’s about feeling safe, having support when you need it and enjoying where you live.
So, what exactly gets assessed? RES looks at five key areas of the resident experience:
| What RES looks at | What that means for you |
|---|---|
| Meeting Expectations | Does your new home live up to what you expected when you booked? |
| Personalising Your Experience | Does your accommodation fit your lifestyle, needs and everyday uni routine? |
| Delighting Residents | Are there little extras and experiences that make living there even better? |
| Protection & Support | When you need a hand, do you feel supported and looked after? |
| Personal Safety | Do you feel safe and comfortable in the place you call home? |
Each area contributes to the overall accreditation score, with Gold Accreditation awarded to accommodation providers scoring 8 or above out of 10.
We’re proud to have achieved an overall accreditation score of 8.17 out of 10, earning Scape Gold status for 2026.
The results were informed by feedback from 3,788 Scape residents, alongside staff and senior management assessments.
Here’s a closer look at how students rated their experience:
| Experience area | Student rating |
|---|---|
| Personal Safety | 8.34/10 |
| Protection and Support | 8.17/10 |
| Personalising My Experience | 8.08/10 |
| Delighting Me | 8.03/10 |
| Meeting My Expectations | 7.78/10 |
One of the standout results was personal safety, which received the highest student rating of 8.34 out of 10.
It’s encouraging to see residents recognising the importance of feeling safe and supported in their home away from home.
Choosing where to live while studying at uni is a big decision, especially if you’re moving away from home for the first time.
Sure, a comfortable room and a great location are important. But student accommodation should offer more than just somewhere to sleep.
It’s about having a place where you feel safe, can make new friends and know there’s always someone around to help when you need it.
At Scape, that means:
Our RES Gold Accreditation reflects the experiences residents have shared with us. It’s great to see positive feedback, and it also helps us understand where we can keep making life at Scape better.
To the thousands of Scape residents who took the time to complete the survey, thank you!
Your feedback helps us understand what’s working, what matters most to you and where we can do better.
Gold is a milestone worth celebrating, but we’re not stopping here. We’ll continue listening to our residents and finding ways to make life at Scape even better.
