Things To Do In Melbourne During Your University Break

So once you say goodbye to textbooks, lectures and exams for a stint and the holidays are here, put some of these activities on your semester break to do list:

1.    Explore the city
There’s no better view of the Melbourne skyline than in the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, a giant ferris wheel located in Dockland. It’s truly a fun activity to do with your friends to kick off your uni break!

Other attractions in the heart of Melbourne include the Queen Victoria Market that dates back to the 19th century and is a great place to pick up a bargain. Federation Square houses a great range of entertainment and dining and of course, make sure you check out some of the wicked street art in one of the many laneways in the heart of the city.

2.    Watch a game of sport
The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has earned a reputation as a fantastic sporting venue. So, if you love sports, you should definitely book some tickets to one of the AFL, State of Origin or soccer matches that are played there every Friday and Saturday night.

3.    Say hello to nature
There’s something for every type of nature lover in Melbourne. For those horticultural students out there, the Royal Botanic Gardens will be more than educational with over 12,000 species of plants within its boundaries.

If you simply want to see some tiny penguins waddle from the water’s edge, a trip to Phillip Island should be on the cards, where little penguins can be seen along the shore at dusk. You can also find a great range of animals at the Werribee Open Range Zoo and Melbourne Zoo.

4.    Learn more at a museum
Melbourne is all about culture, so it’s no surprise the city has some great museums to visit. Head to the oldest museum in Victoria, the National Gallery of Victoria to see one of the many fantastic exhibitions that are held within its walls or stop by the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you can learn more about the traditional owners of the land.
